Seniors Recognized as National Merit Semifinalists

St. John’s Jesuit High School & Academy is proud to announce that three seniors have been recognized as Commended Scholars by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.  Andrew Dake ’20, Nicholas Bittel ’20, and Jacob Redd ’20 placed among the top 50,000 of 1.6 million students who entered the 2019 competition by taking the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

Nicholas Bittel ’20 is a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes in Genoa, Ohio. He attended Woodmore Middle School. Bittel is a member of Magis Society and an SJJ Ambassador. He is a Freshman Retreat Leader, participated in the Christian Service Program at Crossgates Preschool, and a member of the varsity soccer team. Bittel has applied to The Ohio State University, University of Michigan, Ohio Northern University, and Capital University.

Andrew Dake ’20 is a member of St. Joseph Parish Sylvania. He is President of Student Council and a member of the varsity Crew team. Dake volunteers for Food for Thought and has traveled to the Dominican Republic as a volunteer with Court for Kids. He has volunteered as a STEM Camp Leader for Washington Local Schools. A member of the National Honors Society and a TV-4 anchor, Dake has applied to The Ohio State University, University of Michigan, Purdue, Penn State, University of Toledo, and the University of Illinois.

Jacob Redd ’20
attended Holloway Elementary before coming to the St. John’s Jesuit Academy for middle school. He is a member of Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg. Redd is a member of Magis Society and the Campus Ministry Core Team. He is a Retreat Leader, National Honor Society member, as well as a Morning and Examen Prayer Leader. He has applied to Case Western University, Eastern Michigan University, John Carroll University, Miami University (OH), Pennsylvania State University, The Ohio State University, and the University of Toledo.
