Robotics Club qualifies for State Tournament

SJJ Robotics Makes StatesThe St. John's Jesuit Robotics Club competed in the First Tech Challenge (FTC) Tournament, hosted by the FIRST Program (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) in Van Wert on January 19 and 20. 

The JV team, comprised of all first-year club members, placed seventh out of 28 teams!

The veteran team placed eighth overall and was selected as the first pick of the second alliance leader, which went on to win the overall competition. By being the first pick of the winning alliance, the Broken Axles qualified for the State FTC Robotics competition!

The team scored a tournament high 369 points in the finals, helping to secure their second state tournament appearance in a row. They also won the Promote Award for creating a 30 second video about FTC and came in second for the Compass Award, an award that recognizes the efforts of their faculty mentor, Mr. Smith '99.

The team will now compete in Cincinnati on February 16 and 17 for a chance at their first ever Super-Regional Championship event.
