Jesuit Virtual Learning Academy

The Jesuit Virtual Learning Academy (JVLA) allows St. John's Jesuit to extend the learning opportunities of our students.  With courses like the United Nations and International Relations, Multivariable Calculus, Computer Game Development, and Astronomy, students can pursue new interests and take on new academic challenges.  JVLA classes combine spirited Jesuit pedagogy (dating back to the Ratio Studiorum of 1599) with the innovation of online learning.  The courses utilize a platform and format that students might expect to experience in college, and students learn from experienced Ignatian educators from Jesuit high schools around the country.  Course credit and grades are applied to the student's SJJ transcript.

Course Offerings: St. John’s Jesuit has 17 in-house AP classes along with nine additional AP courses offered through the JVLA (listed below), bringing the total number of AP Classes offered at SJJ to 26. Follow the link below to see the current list of courses.

Enrollment:  Students are encouraged to visit the JVLA website for the current list of year-long, semester, and summer courses.  They can register with their counselor or the Administrator for Academics.  
The standard cost for a semester course is $240 and a year-long course is $350. Summer course costs vary.  The only other cost associated with JVLA courses will be books, though, depending on the course, books may not be required.
